DERBY DETAILS

Bring your Pack to the Kansas City Automotive Museum for a day of fun!

 

ALL EVENTS INCLUDE

  • Complimentary admission for scout leaders to preview museum

  • Museum provides track, equipment and set-up

  • Row seating for spectators

  • Car tables, Winner's banner and laptop (with timing software)

  • Projector and screen to display race results

  • Covered display table(s) for awards, and trophies
     

COST
There is no charge to your group. Kansas City Automotive Museum is a 501c3 charitable

corporation. The Museum will ask for a $3 per person donation in lieu of entry fees. Pack

can make a lump sum donation for as well. Donation bins will also be available for spectators.

 

CONCESSIONS

Concessions are available, but will need to be manned by a scout. Proceeds from concessions

benefit the museum. The Museum will provide concession stand, supplies, and equipment.

 

RESERVATIONS

We begin accepting registrations in September/October of the prior calendar year.  Dates are

limited. For more information, contact the Kansas City Automotive Museum at (913) 322-4227 or

email the museum at education@kansascityautomuseum.com. A $50 charge will be applied if

cancelled/no show.

 

AVAILABILITY

Pinewood Derby’s are held only in the month of January.

  • Thursday evening: 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

  • Friday evening: 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

  • Saturday morning:10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

  • Saturday afternoon: 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • Sunday:1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

All Derby races are held in the drive-in area of the Museum. Cancellations must be made at least 2 weeks prior to the event.

FAQ
Can registration be done at a local home before the
event?

YES! Excel sheets can be imported into the racing
software if you would like to prepare your sheet
ahead of time.
 

Who runs the derby?
Your Pack. The derby is yours to run as you see fit.
We do require two deep leadership.
 

Can older boy scouts or adults help with the snack stand?
YES! We encourage older boys in need of service
hours to help.

 

Can we bring food or drinks for the boys?
No outside food or drinks are allowed. We will work
with you to make sure that snacks that you desire are
available for purchase at the snack stand.
 

Can we come in before the event to learn the software?
YES! We will have an instructional options.
